The Nottingham New Theatre

The new season is almost here and we can’t wait for everything to get back in to full swing! In the mean time there are lots of important dates coming up so make sure you don’t miss out on any of them!

Staring next week is the annual Postgrad production. The Seagull by Anton Chekhov will run from Wed 23rd until Sat 26 January with doors at 7pm for a 7:30pm sharp start! For more information take a look at this.

Workshops at Lakeside!

All members should have got information about some upcoming workshops at Lakeside but remember to book your places quickly as they’re limited!

1. Physical Theatre

Monday 28th January, 6.30pm-8.30pm, Djanogly Theatre, Lakeside. Nottingham New Theatre Member Price = FREE
Led by Gavin Robertson an internationally renowned practitioner trained at Lecoq.

Gavin has experience of producing, creating, directing and performing his own work for national and international touring.

Recent productions include ‘Spittoon’, ‘The Three Musketeers’, ‘The Six-Sided Man’, ‘Fantastical Voyage’ and  ‘I Am Who Am I’

2. Accents
Wednesday 13th March, 2pm-5pm, Djanogly Theatre, Lakeside. Nottingham New Theatre Member Price = FREE

Led by Anne Walsh who has worked with major names in theatre, television and film.
This will be an excellent introduction to approaching the use of accents in performance.

Places for all of these workshops will be available on a first come first served basis.

Proposals Advice Meeting

– Wednesday 23rd January

Come along to this meeting where there’ll be a (truly epic) Powerpoint presentation that’ll give you all the information you need about the season’s 10 available slots as well as advice on how to put together a successful proposal.

– Sunday 27th January 2013 in the Theatre Auditorium
If you know you want to direct a show next season or are simply curious for more info, get in contact with James McAndrew our Productions Co-Ordinator. Send an email to him at: and he’ll be able to give you all of the advice and guidance you might need for putting together a proposal.

Theatre Open Day

– Tuesday 29th January 2013

Tours around the theatre and a chance for new and perspective members of the theatre to meet the committee and ask questions!

Spring AGM

– Wednesday 30th January 2013 (1pm and 3pm) in the Theatre Auditorium
Make sure you’re free for this one! We’ll be announcing all of our season shows and explaining all of the opportunities to get involved next season. This includes everything on and off stage as well as drama club, upcoming training dates and workshops and much much more.

– Thursday 31st January and Friday 1st February, with recalls on Saturday 2nd February
These will be held in the theatre and at other locations across campus. You can sign up for slots for these at the AGM. Remember you must be a member to audition!
